Instructional Design IS A
Project Management Process
..... one geared for following basic PM protocol along the lines of the needs assessments that provide the engine for producing effective training.
Such training could involve the development of eLearning solutions, live or virtual classroom opportunities, documented Getting Started Guides, Quick Start Guides, Classroom Workbooks, or other means of instruction.
Below are links to two examples of Project Management Plans, tailored exclusively to meet the needs of key stakeholders.
Though a project of many moving parts, and encompassing many people, requires a detailed plan, there are times when the stakeholder ONLY wants a high-level "map" of what's involved.
The tasks, steps, deliverables, and timing to be carried out by all those involved in a project result in the outcome for which the Instructional Designer is ultimately responsible, like any project manager.
